The search service can find package by either name (apache), provides(webserver), absolute file names (/usr/bin/apache), binaries (gprof) or shared libraries (libXm.so.2) in standard path. It does not support multiple arguments yet...
The System and Arch are optional added filters, for example System could be "redhat", "redhat-7.2", "mandrake" or "gnome", Arch could be "i386" or "src", etc. depending on your system.
The Perl Data Language turns perl into an efficient numerical language for scientific computing. The PDL module gives standard perl the ability to COMPACTLY store and SPEEDILY manipulate the large N-dimensional data sets which are the bread and butter of scientific computing. e.g. $a=$b+$c can add two 2048x2048 images in only a fraction of a second. PDL provides tons of useful functionality for scientific and numeric analysis and comes with a convenient shell for online analysis of data. This provides a complete fully functional PDL with perl (>=5.004) as the only dependency. To get the 3D graphics to work install the Mesa RPMs as well (version >= 3.0). To get the Karma interface to work install Karma (version = 1.6.30). To get the PGPLOT graphics interface to work install pgplot (version >= 5.2.0) and the pgperl (version>2.11) For license information see the file COPYING. This package is built under RH 6.2beta, but should also work fine under RH 6.0 and 6.1. RH 6.0 users will want to upgrade their perl since the stock version is missing pod2text.
