| Summary: CDK4AVR -- Spider Prog (In-System Programmer) | |
CDK4AVR stands for Cross Development Kit for Atmels AVR RISC processor serie
and should you support with a comprehensive Assembler and C development
environment for even this processor familie under Linux. It will present only
free of fee tools, so you can use it without risks. Further you will finde
some useful OS projects and related sample code all arround AVRs inside of
the example packages.
Til now there are the following packages available:
* see cdk-avr-base package
SP12: A serial programmer for working with Atmel AVR uCs.
Copyright (C) 1997-2003 Ken Huntington, Kevin Towers, Pitronics.
SP12 is the Spider Programmer-- a serial mode (in-circuit) programmer for the
AVR family of microcontrollers. When new AVR uCs arrive, you can easily add
support for them yourself, by adding a plain text entry to the runtime
configuration file _sp12dev. Editing this file also allows you to customize
the way sp12 deals with existing uCs. For more informartion see:
* http://www.xs4all.nl/~sbolt/e-spider_prog.html
N O T E S for usage:
* You should copy current device description file _sp12dev from
%{prefix}/doc/sp12 to your home directory and set
environment variable SP to it befor run sp12 -- usually:
> export SP=$HOME
* SP12 needs the host specific configuration file $SP/_sp12rc which have
to generate automatically by you by calling:
> sp12 -i
* SP12 is an dangerouse and host specific binary, because it uses the
systemcall ioperm() to get access to parallel ports. So you can run
SP12 only on x86 host systems and need root privilegs. Be warned, SP12
can damage your running system!
Install SP12 if you need to perform any of these types of actions at
your AVR (eva)board. Only some programmers or users of the so named Spider
Programmer will want to install SP12.
